Passage: Luke 1:39-56
Have you ever been in a situation where you have been on high alert? There is a lot of trouble in this world. There are a lot of things that cause inner turmoil, anxiety, anger, etc., but if you remember that you are connected to God, you can be at ease. The problem comes when you forget God.
When the children of Israel were about to enter the Promised Land, they were reminded not to forget the God who brought them there. They would be prosperous, but prosperity led them and can lead you to a false self-reliance forgetting about God.
Trials and sorrows can also cause anxiety and self-reliance. You may think that God isn’t listening to your cries for help. In pride, you forget your identity in God and lose sight of His love. You may be tempted to rely on the things of the world to boost your value and on yourself to take care of the problems. How can you get off the world’s performance-based roller coaster? Is there a way for you to find your way back to rest and freedom?
