Series: The Gospel of Luke: Confidence about Jesus

Lord of the Sabbath

March 08, 2026 | Zach Schlegel
Passage: Luke 5:33-6:11

“Don’t miss the forest for the trees!” Have you heard that expression before? It reminds us to go beyond the big picture and open our eyes to details. Jesus miracles revealed His identity, showing He has authority over sickness, disease, and people. People heard Jesus preach. They saw the miracles, but they were blind to Jesus’ true identity. Is it possible to make the same mistake today? How many sermons have you heard about Jesus? Do you know about Jesus, or do you KNOW Jesus? How can you avoid missing the forest for the trees when it comes to Jesus?

Sermon Outline

1. Trust the living God and turn from blind idols. 5:33-39

2. Realign your heart to the Person you are created for. 6:1-11
