Passage: Luke 2:21-52
At Christmas, we celebrate the incarnation - the Son of God taking on flesh. This doesn’t suggest that Jesus stopped being God. It was the two natures in one person - a mystery. Jesus became fully man while remaining fully God. If you traveled back to the first century, you probably wouldn’t recognize Him. He looked like every other person. His deity was veiled in His humanity which was a stumbling block to belief. People didn’t understand; they were offended.
In the same way and over time, it is easy for all of us to lose sight of Jesus' true identity and the difference His being God can make. How can you avoid losing sight of the wonder of the incarnation? Jesus is God in the flesh. In the rest of chapter two, you see three snapshots of Jesus.
