Passage: 1 Timothy 4:1-5
What is the very first command that God gave Adam and Eve? He tells them that they may eat of every tree in
the garden. (Genesis 2:16) The first command in the Bible is not a prohibition but an invitation to feast. Do you
have a tendency to define God by His “Thou shalt not’s?”
God’s heart is genuinely generous. He is the kind of Father that you want to be around. This can be seen in
Genesis 1. Eden was a garden filled with yes and only one “no.” Satan came in and caused doubt by lying. He
wanted to make God look stingy. Satan does the same thing today. He wants us to go it alone and be our own
God. How can we make sure we don’t fall away from the Living God and keep from shipwrecking our faith?
