Care for God’s Family

May 18, 2025 | Zach Schlegel
Passage: 1 Timothy 5:1-16

In 1 Timothy chapter four, Paul encouraged the church to train in godliness which is of value in the present life and the life to come. But what is the nature of godliness? What comes to your mind when you think about godliness? If you think that it’s all devotion and piety without service, you will be so heavenly minded that you will be no earthly good.

The Bible has a different picture or description of godliness. Paul’s picture of godliness is not detached from the present. It is tangible with tangible implications. In this passage, we see examples of godliness not just for pastors, but for the whole congregation.
