A Call to Prayer

February 16, 2025 | Zach Schlegel
Passage: 1 Timothy 2:1-7

Are you in or are you out? You may face this question in various situations. Do you have the warehouse club membership to be able to shop there? Do you have the top security clearance at your job? Have you made the team or gotten the role in the school play? Did you get the job for which you applied? Are you a part of the friend group that you desire to be a part of? The reality is that you and I are most concerned about outsiders when we are one. Concern may fade once we’ve “made it in.”

This can happen in churches too. New Christians are very enthusiastic about their faith. As time passes, if we are not careful, the thoughts and feelings can shift from God’s amazing grace to self-righteousness which turns us inward. It squashes evangelistic zeal and diminishes concern from outsiders who are still from God.

So, how can a church keep its zeal for the lost? How can we make sure that the heart of our church reflects God’s heart? How can you make sure that your heart reflects God’s heart?

Sermon Outline
