Series: A Life of Worship: Giving Time, Talent, & Treasure

Trusting the God Who Provides

September 29, 2024 | Tony Edwards
Passage: Philippians 4:10-20

This sermon concluded the series on “A Life of Worship.” The previous sermons presented by several of our pastors focused on giving of our time, talent and treasure. The first sermon in the series was Giving Time in Humility from James 4:13-17 and helped us reflect on how we can live aware of life's brevity and our dependence on God? The next sermon, Giving Talent in Service reminded us that we are “gonna serve somebody and asked how can you, as a Christian, honor God with your life and have a heart of service and worship to Him, rather than getting caught up in the worship and service of the world? (Romans 12:1-8)

The next two sermons focused on the stewardship of our treasure. In Giving Treasure as Worship (Matthew 6:19-24), we were reminded that bad theology on wealth and giving has resulted in false teaching. In Matthew chapter six, Jesus is exposing the false worship of hypocrites. He contrasts this righteousness with true righteousness. True acts of righteousness are an outpouring of being made righteous by God through repentance and faith in Christ. The fourth sermon, Giving Treasure as Investment, reminded us that prosperity will tempt you to forget God. You may have wealth, but it’s how you feel about it and what you do with it that matters. Our hope and security cannot be in our wallets. (1 Timothy 6:17-19)

In the sermon today, we are encouraged to trust in God’s timing and provision, His power, and His promises.

Sermon Outline
1.Trust God’s timing and provision. Vs. 10
2.Trust in the power of God. Vs. 11-13
3.God’s trustworthy promises never fail. Vs. 14-20
