Passage: 1 Timothy 6:17-19
Your actions will follow your faith. God allows us to work and earn a wage. What is important is how we use the money God gives us. Where are your treasures? Are they in your bank account, your garage, etc.? Where do you put your trust?
Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. (Matthew 6:19-24) If you are honest with yourself, what does your heart crave? This is where your affections are found. Who is your master? It’s not about possessions, it’s about the heart. If we are not careful, our possessions can possess us. What is your attitude about money?
We come into this world with nothing, and we will leave with nothing. There is allure, power and despair with a heart set on money. (Deuteronomy 8) Prosperity will tempt you to forget God. God’s blessings should lead us to reflect God and do good. Your life does not consist of an abundance of possessions. You may have wealth, but it’s how you feel about it and what you do with it that matters. Our hope and security cannot be in our wallets.
