Passage: Revelation 6:1-17
In the book of Revelation, God pulled back the curtain for John. John, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, wrote what he saw then sent this letter to the churches to encourage them in a time of persecution. The message of Revelation is that Jesus wins. His victory becomes our victory.
We may be confused and concerned about the circumstances of life. God is in the “driver’s seat,” so we can rest and trust. In Revelation 4, John shows us God, on the throne. He is in control. We don’t need to panic. History is going somewhere. In Revelation 5, we see Jesus Who is the only One to open the scroll containing God’s plan for history. Where is history going? Chapter 6 gives us a sneak peek of the coming judgment which is near and promised, sure and guaranteed. How should Christians live, knowing that our sovereign God will someday judge the world?
