What Should Pastors Do?

September 27, 2026 | Mike Rogers
Passage: The First Letter of Peter 1 Peter 5:1-11

You can have hope in Christ amid intense suffering! The book of First Peter not only reminded first century Christians, but also Christians today that we will experience suffering. However, it also reminds us that we have a great hope in God. Regardless of whether your suffering is intense or a “steady drip” that comes from a fallen world, you can have hope. In any trial that you are enduring right now, you can rest in the fact that God is in control. He is worth it.

Sometimes, suffering causes us to doubt, but as you look at the book of First Peter, you can find hope amid suffering. In Chapter 5, Peter addresses individuals as well as local churches. The local church is God’s plan for encouragement, guidance, teaching, and fellowship with other Christians. We are to help each other remain steadfast until Jesus returns.
