Jay Crandell
Elder
Jay Crandell grew up on a family farm in West River, MD, worked in a family construction business, and studied engineering at UMD, USNA, and Virginia Tech. He currently is a professional engineer in private practice. Jay and Trish are blessed with four adult (married) children and six grandchildren. Through his younger years and college life, Jay was essentially a practicing atheist. While he appreciated some of the moral teachings and wisdom of the Bible, he readily rejected the gospel. Jay met his wife, Patricia (Trish) while working as a research engineer at VA Tech. Not long after their marriage, they began attending church where Jay’s ears were finally opened to the gospel and God drew him to repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior. By the grace of God, Jay was exposed to sound biblical discipleship and teaching at Friendship Baptist Church and then South River Bible Church where he frequently led worship service and participated in prison ministry. Later, he served on the worship and the music ministry teams of two church plants in Virginia, becoming a deacon at Winchester Baptist Church. Jay has enjoyed serving in various ministry capacities including teaching and occasionally preaching. Jay and Trish moved back to Maryland and became members of FBCUM in 2017. Jay was ordained as a non-vocational pastor in March of 2023 and looks forward to serving and growing with the body of Christ at FBCUM.
This is the LORD's doing; it is marvelous in our eyes. (Psalm 118:23)
