Josh Strickland
Elder
Born and raised in the area, I grew up at FBCUM. I worked for a decade in the family business at Strickland Fire Protection, and since 2020 I have served as one of the lay elders/pastors at FBCUM. I'm a graduate of the Reformed Theological Seminary (RTS). In addition to general pastoral duties, my main focus is on new member integration and working to support the church's singles. I am married to a wonderful wife, Shelbey, and we have three children.
One of my favorite Scriptures is Matthew 11:28-30 when Jesus says:
“Come to me (come to Him/Jesus), all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30, NIV)
Time and time again, I’ve found these words trustworthy and Jesus faithful. I’m overwhelmed by the grace of God to save the likes of me. He is the only rest for our weary souls; His yoke is easy, and His burden light. And I find it a joy and honor to serve full-time, striving to promote this beautiful gospel message.
